Primary and secondary schools across Cork and Kerry are being called upon to swap their uniforms for their favourite jersey and support the ‘Stand 4 Féile’ Jersey Day on Friday, 20th March.

This regional initiative, organised by a voluntary group of former Cork and Kerry GAA players, invites students, teachers and staff, and the wider community to wear their favourite jersey, be it club, county, school, or any sporting team, and make a small donation to support Féile O’Sullivan’s recovery following a life changing accident on the family farm last July.

The funds raised are vital and will provide essential rehabilitation support and future care for Féile, helping to support, encourage, and empower her, and her family, during this extremely challenging journey.

Féile’s mother, Maureen O’Sullivan, expressed her sincere gratitude to all those who have supported Féile:

“Last July, Féile’s life changed forever after a devastating accident on our family farm in Allihies in West Cork. Since then, she has undergone more than 65 surgeries and, despite extraordinary care from her medical team, her legs had to be amputated and she has had to endure a number of significant life changing procedures.

“With the support of the GAA community, Féile has met each of these challenges with a smile, determination and a great sense of humour. Support for Féile has since spread far beyond the GAA, and we would like to sincerely thank everyone who has played a part in supporting Féile’s recovery so far.”

Garnish GAA, Féile’s home club in West Cork, which has played an enormous role in supporting Féile’s recovery, is encouraging all schools across Cork and Kerry to take part in the ‘Stand 4 Féile’ Jersey Day on Friday, 20th March.

“As Féile and her family face the next chapter of her recovery, we’re inviting every school across Cork and Kerry to take part in the ‘Stand 4 Féile’ Jersey Day to help raise vital funds for Féile and to show her that the entire country is fully behind her,” according to Finbarr Harrington, Chairman, Garnish GAA.

While the ‘Stand 4 Féile’ Jersey Day is primarily aimed at schools in Cork and Kerry, everyone throughout the country is welcome to join in, with schools, clubs, colleges and workplaces encouraged to participate and support Féile’s continued recovery.

Schools are encouraged to capture the colour and energy of the day and share their photos using #Stand4Féile on social media to help spread awareness and amplify the message of support.

As an added incentive, all participating schools will be entered into a draw to win a brand-new set of jerseys. In total, four primary schools (two in Cork and two in Kerry) and four secondary schools (two in Cork and two in Kerry) will benefit from the generous gesture by O’Neills Sports.
