Humorist Pat Fitzpatrick is September Cork Person of the Month
Humourist, journalist and author, Pat Fitzpatrick, has been named Cork Person of the Month for the month of September for his work as a journalist, and for his humour-based creative writing.
The author has written a number of bestsellers including, 101 Reasons Why Cork is Better than Dublin, 101 Reasons Why Ireland is Better than England, and a parenting book called No Sex, No Sleep.
He also writes the regular Irish Examiner column Ask Audrey and writes regularly for the Irish Independent. In addition to these contributions to print journalism in Ireland, Pat also features regularly on radio such as Newstalk, Red FM and Today FM. He is also a regular participant in RTÉ television broadcasts.
Pat has built a huge online presence on Twitter over the past 18 months as “Reggie, Blackrock Road”, entertaining over 20,000 followers with humorous takes on life in Cork and Ireland.
Awards organiser, Manus O’Callaghan, said, “His brilliant stories and very Cork humour is part of a tradition that goes back to Cha & Miah, although in keeping with today’s acceptable standards. Pat is much closer to the bone and all the better for that.”
Pat Fitzpatrick’s name now goes forward, with the other Persons of the Month chosen this year, for possible selection as Cork Person of the Year, at a Gala Awards Lunch on January 21st next.
